You have one more temp folder to clean out that everyone neglects.

Under "local settings" is a massive temp folder. You can delete everything except the cookies and temp internet files folders, and Zone alarm temp files if you are using it. The programs you see listed with folders will recreate those folders when you restart them.

Disk clean up said the temp was empty ill go check manauly.

Started about a year ago with an e-machine 566i, crystal audio on that one. Actually ECS's main site is pretty easy to navigate to find drivers. I noticed none of them say for windows xp. You may end up having more problems in the future than you bargained for. I am going to quietly suggest getting a new board this one for example from newegg: only about 45.00 with shipping if your going to use win xp and your mobo doesnt support winxp drivers, you are probably going to run into other issues. The board is the same socket type as the one you have now, so all of your other hardware should work just fine in this board. It may sound extreme. But, if the sound drivers that you update do not work, and your going to use the winxp os on a board that does not have drivers to support it, not sure how many more options your going to have.

Ive run that same setup in place of this computer and everything was fine. XP wise. Its not the board, i think its the sound card or hard drive. And posibly the ram stick oganization..

640mb of pc133 ram. 2 sticks of 256, and one 123.

For what it's worth, on a system as old as this one is a simple Sound Blaster 16 PCI from staples for $30 will work fine.

I could spend even less on one at my local walmart. I have a SoundBlaster Live LS in the PC im on, and it only costed 20.

And it runs guildwars. But im at a loss for money. If necessary ill switch to onboard sound, but im trying not to mess with the hardware.

I wish I could help with the money aspect (I don't shop at Wal-Mart, for personal reasons) but the Live LS was quite a deal.

have you tried running msconfig to cleran up your files that start on boot up?
if not try it, if you dont know how to do it its simple, go to run, type msconfig, and hit enter, then a box will come up, click on the start up tab, and uncheck everything that is not vital to your system, it sounds to me like your ram is tied up in other programs and when you try and start GW's it locks up because it cant find the avialbe resources, gw is a huge program and on my comp with 512 mb of DDR it takes almost 200 megs of that or more to run gw stabliy.

I think its the video card. It just gave me enough time to switch to window mode, and it worked, when i switched back to fullscreen, it locked again.
